The First Light service is our first service on Sunday morning. Since 2001, a congregation of typically about 200-300 persons gather for this service in a more contemporary setting and style. This service meets at 8:50 AM in our Beasley Center. The Beasley center is located across the street from the sanctuary and education buildings. The First Light service emphasizes a more casual worship, along with a comfortable form of dress. The music is led by one of several praise bands with modern instruments–often including guitars, keyboard, drums, and other percussion instruments. Lyrics to the music are displayed in real time on a screen behind the band. Music is often contemporary Christian, although old standards are intermittently heard in the mix. Bibles may be brought to follow the scripture if desired. If a Bible is not brought, the scripture message is printed in the church bulletin as well. The sermon is the same message in both the contemporary and traditional services. Guests of all backgrounds are invited to share in any of our worship services at all times.
