Serve the Kingdom on our upcoming mission trips

The Mission Committee oversees the many mission opportunities sponsored by First Methodist Church. Every church member is encouraged to be active in any of the projects during the year. These are areas where our members often volunteer:

The June mission focus will be assisting the
Athens Limestone County Family Resource Center.
They have an ongoing need for hygiene products (deodorant, body wash or soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrushes-adult and child, lotion), size 5 & 6 diapers, and wipes.

They could also use volunteers to work in their “Shepherds Closet” organizing clothes and donations that come in.

Our rising 6th graders will be working there one or two
days during VBS as their service project.
Volunteer Sign-up sheets will be in SS classes and in the Beasley Center foyer.  Debbie Wilson can also get you in touch with the right person and answer questions.

Faith Ministry
This ministry has several programs for serving northern Mexico in the cities of Reynosa, Naranjito, and Miguel Aleman. The homebuilding program is similar to Habitat for Humanity projects. Mission teams work on one or more houses during a week-long trip to Mexico. The teams also deliver food packages in the area of the churches, serve during the nutritional program, and play with the children who attend. Our children's department has packed and sent 'goody bags' containing crafts and treats the Mexican children always enjoy. Our youth department has written prayer cards, which are read to the family and put in the concrete blocks as the house is being constructed, surrounding the house in prayer.

On their trips, the youth held VBS for the local children and worked on house construction during their week there. Many of our church members sponsor children's education through scholarships.

When: A mission trip in the fall, donations throughout the year. Faith Ministry church compound and clinic in Reynosa, Mexico. The next trip will be October 18-25 2024.

Where: Faith Ministry Church Compound and clinic in Reynosa, Mexico
